7-Eleven became a part of the Swedish market during the 1980s, but in 1992, the Swedish market was acquired by Small Shops Holding. The company closed all the existing stores and built new, modern facilities in the most convenient locations for local shoppers. In 1997, AB Svenska Pressbyran was acquired by Small Shops Holding, which the same year was sold to the Norwegian listed company Narvesen. Today Small Shops Sverige AB and AB Svenska Pressbyran are part of the group of Narvesen, along with Small Shops Norge AS and Small Shops Danmark A/S. Small Shops Sverige AB holds the license for 7-Eleven in Sweden.
Today, the Small Shops Sverige AB has 60 stores employing approximately 600 people. The stores are located in central Stockholm, central Gothenburg and the south of Sweden. Twenty stores are open 24 hours, and the rest have operating hours between at least 07.00 – 23.00.
All of the stores are owned by franchisees, which means that each store is an independent company run by the owner.
